Tulips versus Daffodils

I simply love spring.
It's something about the anticipation, the hope for warm, sunny days, and a sun that never sets. At least in this country.

Last autumn I planted daffodils and tulips along the path next to the Duck and Cherry. I wanted to surprise the love of my life with beautiful flowers come spring.

Spring is here, but so are the deer of the forest.

They are our neighbors, I get that. But why do they have to eat our garden?

So what do you notice in these two photos? What is the difference?

The daffodils are happily sunning themselves, beautiful and cheerful.
The tulips have had most of their heads cut (eaten) off.

This fall I am definitely planting more daffodils.

Off The To-Do-List

Some days are prone to change. Today has been one of those days that I had a glorious to-do-list prepared and hardly accomplished any of the things on it.

What did I do instead? Walked with Ida and her three munchkins to see the sheep and horses on the neighboring estate. Played with our youngest munchkin, Phoebe. Walked with Hector, the Wheaten Terrier, Linnea and her baby to the store to get milk for breakfast. Made scrumptious French toast (which in Norwegian has the swinging name, "Beveiled Farm Maidens"). I drove Tiffany to the train station.

Oh, I did the dishes, a couple of loads of laundry, and got my budget sorted out, so I am actually happy with that.

So it does not matter if dust bunnies have not been evacuated from the premises today. I don't worry that my Broom Closet still has sheet music all over the floor. Today has been a good day. I love my family. They are my happiness and joy. They make me whole.

Today's water color is a fairy called Mie.
